Lots going on this week, The Seasonal Houses for Spring is due to begin on Wednesday, Thursday is the Stenciling on Paintstiks workshop. and Saturday is Crazy Quilt Club. Also as a heads up, the Hand stitchers will be finishing our purses on March 2.
The special this weekend is on our Super Basic Quilt Kits, they are baby sized, single panel prints with backing fabric and binding fabric. Of course there are instructions as well. These normally sell for $25.00, but this weekend they are 40% off. With the attention paid lately to the actual quilting, they are a great place to practice quilting. Everyone had a great time and learned alot at the Free Motion workshop, When Kathy returns from her travels we will try to schedule her for more. Hand stitching these is also great, If you are taking the hand quilting class in March, you might want to try out one of these kits. I keep a crib/wall size always handy to warm up on.
Lastly, but not least, I want to announce that The Village Fabric Shoppe is an official drop off point for the Million Pillowcase Challenge sponsored by American Patchwork and Quilting. This is designed to help quilters who want to help local charities. This summer we will be having a couple of events, but in the meantime, you can make pillowcases on your own or with your small sewing group. Please wash them without fabric softener, and drop them off here during business hours. We will register them with the counter, and distribute them to local charities. There are even free patterns on the website for some really nice pillowcases. This is a great way to use up stash leftovers, teach a young person to sew, or do something nice with 4H or scouts. Fabrics to use should be new (not recycled) and washed with no fabric softeners or starches. Some of the recipients may have sensitivities to the chemicals. Designs can be anything you wish, these will be going to children, Seniors, and adults. If you need more details come on in or check out their website at www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases Get sewing !! See you soon!!
