Can't believe it's time to get the beads out again. Fat Tuesday is this week, the 16th to be exact, and if you wear your beads to the shoppe on the 16th, you can have all the pre cut fat quarters you want for one dollar each. This sale has been one of our most popular, and the most fun. Don't miss this chance to stock up. We have lots of workshops that are fat quarter friendly, so pick a color, get a bunch and get going on a fun new project. Some of our workshops are nearly full, so if you didn't get in during registration week, you had better get signed up. I'd hate for you to miss out. If you can't get in on Tuesday, you can still stock up on Fat quarters, but at $1.50 each on Friday and Saturday as our special.
At our recent William Morris, Kelmscott Block of the Month meeting, we had some discussion of the proper machine needles and sizes for use in various ways. There is a wealth of information on the blog of Ellen Anne Eddy, (and in her book, Thread Magic, now in stock at VFS ) http://www.practicalthreadmagic-ellenanneeddy.blogspot.com/ I know it looks like a really long link, but trust me, you will enjoy it. She has been posting on this blog weekly regarding machine threadwork .The farther back the post, the more basic the information, so do scroll down, odds are your question wil get answered. If you are not familiar with her work, she paints with machine threadwork, creating little creatures and their environments. You will be amazed and inspired by her work.
Friday is the Locker Hooking Workshop, with Diane. It is easy and fun. This cousin to rug hooking uses strips of cotton fabrics - don't you have a few you could spare?? The results are a wonderful thick textural mat, great for coasters, chair pads and yes rugs. Our project is a small heart design, but the options are endless. We have kits available so all you need is a few basics and some fabric -- and didn't we establish that you have some of that??
Saturday is Fearless free motion. This has been one of our most anticipated workshops is recent history. Join Kathy and learn to get those quilts done yourself, before she heads overseas in March. I believe there are only two spots left, don't miss this one. This method of quilting by machine makes it possible to fill your quilts with unique and perfectly chosen quilt designs. No need to trust to someone else to design this essential element of your quilt. Think of all the fabric and thread you could buy instead of paying someone to quilt for you. Have a Great Valentine's Day!!
