What an exciting weekend!!

Wow. We love Joan Ford. She ran workshops on Scrap Therapy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and gave a wonderful trunk show at the Wiltwyck meeting. Many of you were part of it all and everyone seemed to really enjoy. Remember that we will continue to have Scrap Therapy sessions on Thursdays throughout the winter, - and well into spring too. You can check our website or visit us for the schedule. There are several exciting things coming up too, but I have been sworn to secrecy. I will notify everyone when the new things arrive through this blog, so bookmark or "follow" us and check back often.

This weekend was also the Sheep and Wool festival at the fairgrounds. Although the weather was cold and damp, it was still great. I spoke with Linda Ripasky, one of the best Punch Needle artists out there, marvelled at the needle felted figures of Sharon Costello and once again decided I should learn to knit. I don't have time to learn right now- as usual, but I did pick up a tool called a Lucet, which makes a square cording that has a knitted look. It's a tool that dates back centuries, when the cord it makes was used to fasten garments as it holds its knots very well. It is easy to use and fun to do. If I can get some of this tool at a good price I may run a quick workshop. The cord would make a great embellishment, perhaps even as a necklace cord. It certainly has gotten my curiosity going. If you come in to the shoppe I'd be happy to show you.

Lastly, due to some events beyond my control, Lightning Strikes needs to be postponed. New dates will be announced when finalized. Saturday is Crazy Quilt Club. The special this weekend is 40% off Thimbleberries books and patterns. Many of these have a fall or winter feeling and are beautifully put together. They are mostly simple enough for beginners, but classic and attractive so even experienced quilters will enjoy them. I have several Thimbleberries projects in my home that keep us warm when the weather gets cold. What a great gift!! Who wouldn't love to recieve a classic quilt design already made up? - If you buy the book, you get a present that you can justify by making presents for others. See you soon.
