It's Fair Week

As we approach the Dutchess County Fair, I wish to congratulate all of you who entered pieces in the Crafts and Needlework Division. As we have done in past years, after the fair, any quilts that were connected to the Shoppe in some way are invited to exhibit here. Simply bring in your pieces (with ribbons still attached if you want) and we will hang them in our gallery space through September. This gives all of us a chance to get a better look and share a bit more. Putting work up for the public to view can be hard for many people, I urge any of you who hear incorrect comments by the un informed viewer, to politely take the opportunity to educate him or her. You would be suprised how little your average non-quilter knows about the process. Most of them are amazed by the amount of effort we put into our work. While you are at it, you can even let them know that the local Quilt shop can help them learn if they want to. There will even be flyers with coupons at the First Dutchess Quilters booth. You never know what can come of it.

Last week I put up a link to a crazy quilt show. This week I have an Art Quilt site for you. There are some parallels with last weeks site, the Crazy Quilt is in many ways the predecessor of the Art Quilt. The site is part of the SAQA website, and the pieces you will see there will be auctioned off. SAQA (studio art quilt associates) is one of the largest and most active art quilt associations around. You wont regret time spent browsing this site.

I want to remind you that we will be closed on Tuesday the 25th, and let you all know that the Handstitchers club will be doing hand quilting on September 1. There will be an e-mail to all regular members with a supplies list but if you would like to join us stop by or e-mail and I'll get you set up.
