Bring in those Quilts!!

Now that the fair is finishing up I want to remind you that if you had a piece hanging there that was in any way connected to the Village Fabric Shoppe, you may bring it in any time during this week and we will respectfully hang it in our gallery for those who wish to get a closer look than is possible at the fairgrounds. The added bonus is that if it is a piece you did in a class or club you can take advantage of the Class Example Program too. That means that when you pick it up after the display you will be given 20% off your purchases that day. (not applicable to registration fees or club dues) We are beginning to get some great work from the Class Example Program, you can check out the display for that in our classroom. The fair quilts and needlework will stay up though September 30.

This week is going to be a busy one here, Handstitchers will be basting and hand quilting on Tuesday, a subject close to my heart. You will need to bring a project to work on. Many of our regular members will have the Mariners Compass that we have been working on, ready to baste. You need the top, batting (polyester or wool are easiest to hand quilt) backing, basting thread, needle and masking tape. You will also need hand quilting thread, needles, thimble, hoop and a pair of thread snips.

On Scrap Therapy Thursday, Sept 3, the morning cutting session is full. There is still some room in the newly added afternoon session from 3-5. Bring your scraps, rotary mat cutter and ruler. Call to reserve a spot. If you can't make this one, there is an evening session on Sept 17th, from 7-9pm. It is filling fast too, so call and reserve your spot. This is a prerequisite to all of the Joan Ford Workshops that Wiltwyck Guild is sponsoring, you won't want to miss this.

Our Thangles Block of the Month will also meet this Saturday. On Tuesday Sept 8, we will return to winter hours, and the Art Quilt Club will meet and do some beading. Call or stop in for supply list.

The special for Sept 4 & 5 is on Rhapsody pattern booklets by Ricky Timms. These are stunning pattern booklets that include full size freezer paper patterns. We have three different designs in stock and any one of them could be a show stopper. With all the design work done, you can concentrate on picking wonderful fabrics and really enjoy this process. They are 20% off. I also have two copies of French Braid Quilts that have some water damage and these two copies only are available first come first serve at 40% off. The pages have buckled but everything is still there. This post is getting quite long so I will have to refer you to my personal blog for posts of a more inspirational nature. www.DianaArtQuilts.blogspot.com
