Well, the local schools are on Spring Break, and there is snow in the forecast again. Haven't we had enough? Anyway, there are new books that have arrived, so if we do get more snow you can have something inspiring to look at while you drink hot chocolate. Or if it turns out to be rain and you can't get to your garden, you will have some colorful inspiration. The new arrivals are, "A new light on Storm at Sea Quilts", "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts", and "Fearless Design for Every Quilter", all of which are wonderful, and some more copies of "Paula Nadelstern's Kaleidoscope Quilts"for the upcoming workshop. This Friday and Saturday we have the annual Easter Egg Sale. Come in and pick an egg, inside are some jelly beans and a slip of paper with your percent off. You can use your percent off on any in stock merchandise. Most will get 10 or 15 percent, but a lucky few will find a slip with 40%. They are redeemable only on the day you visit, and for one total purchase. A bit of spring fun, but I am not hiding these eggs, they will be in a basket at the register counter. Even if the weather acts like winter, this sale should get some spring in the air.
I want to also let you know that the Festive napkins workshop will not run this Wednesday. Handstitchers this week is on, We are doing the Mariners Compass. Part Two of the Basket Medallion is on Thursday, and Art Quilt Club happens next Tuesday. If you need more information on any of these call, visit or e-mail. I also want to thank those of you who have given feedback on summer workshops. It should be a great summer for stitchers here at the Village Fabric Shoppe. I am almost ready to photograph the Scrap Therapy Projects, so watch this space. Those patterns should come in this week too. A workshop on a project that you really like is like a mini vacation. There have been several studies recently that show that creative activities, like quilting, are very good for combating stress, and they work even better when you engage in them with a group. So pick a workshop or two, get a friend or two, and sign up - you'll be glad you did.
If you prefer to work on your own, you might have fun with the "Down on the Farm" Mystery quilt. The goodie bag has grown and nobody has finished yet, so you still have a good chance of being the first to bring in a finished TOP - and winning the goodie bag. I have not recalculated the exact value of the goodies (I keep finding more things that fit the Down on the Farm theme and adding them), but it is now easily a higher retail value than the cost of the kit. Don't miss an opportunity to have fun, make a great quilt, and if you are the first to finish, win some new toys.
We at the Village Fabric Shoppe are all about making the quilting experience fun and exciting for you. As Spring rolls around, we sincerely hope that you will come to us for inspiration, materials and instruction. Without you all we are nothing. Thank you for all your support in the past, and thank you for all your support in the future. See you soon.
