Well, not only our blog background has gone green. With Earth Day this Wednesday, I thought I would help you out with a few ways to go green. First is a new product, Dream Green Batting. This poly batting is a light green color - very light - due to what it is made from. It is produced from plastic bottles. The different sizes tell you right on the package how many bottles went into it. It has a soft feel and works for hand or machine quilting. In fact I got my first sample of it from a longarm quilter. All sizes are on sale this weekend for the special, at 10% off.
Another way to be good for the Earth is to use fabric tote bags rather than plastic or even paper. I have Village Fabric Shoppe Canvas Bags, or a newly arrived Scrap Therapy pattern called the Scrap Sack, that is as good at toting around your scrap therapy bins as it would be at the farmers market. I will run a workshop on it if enough of you are interested. E-mail or stop by and I will get it set up. While thinking of workshops, a reminder that Crazy Quilt Club will not meet this Saturday, but on May 9, and 23.
Lastly, I want to remind you to be safe with your rotary cutter. One of our customers ended up with stitches on Thursday when her cutter jumped the edge of the ruler. It happens easily when we are not paying attention, or forget to close the blade immediately when the strip we are cutting is done. Also, most of them have a safety lock for a reason. Please be safe. An ounce of prevention you know. We don't want any more of that kind of stitching. Be good to yourself and the Earth. See you soon.
