New toys - I know you want to hear about all the goodies, many would be great holiday gifts, either as is, or wrapped up in a fat quarter or two for your favorite sewer, or even made up for your favorite non sewer. First some books, Super Simple Quilts 2 by Alex Anderson, Quilt Designs from the Past, by Jenny Carr Kinney, The Stitch Tool, by Judith Baker Montano, and 6 x 6 inch blank quilt journals with a section of 8 to the inch graph paper at the back. These items are great, you need to see them up close. We also have a few of the Gipsy Gripper, and a new model, the Mini Gripper for templates and small rulers. (Great for Scrap Therapy Cutting!) We also have a few new Scrap Therapy patterns, these were introduced in past months but are available to scrap therapy participants. These are potholders, Table runner, and a beautiful quilt called Something Fishy.

Blockbusters will be playing with shading and shading using Tsukineko Inks and Fantastix. No other ink or paint allows this method, which can be done on paper or fabric. If you wish to attend, please call to reserve your place, and bring with you a pencil, two colors of tsukinko ink, and two fantastixs. You will also need a white piece of fabric about 8x 10 inches - you may also use a slightly textured paper. We will work on a modern illumination of the word "Create" This Saturday, the special is 10 % off Tsukineko Inks and Fanastixs. I want to encourage you to play with them, as they are easy to use and do not change the hand of the fabric at all.

For Creativity Central, It is time to consider color. We all have colors we like to wear because we look good in it. These colors tend to appear in our home decor and quilt fabric collections as well because they have come to make us feel good. (Who doesn't feel better when they are looking good? ) We also have colors that we don't like and again often it is because we don't look good wearing it. You challenge is to check your fabric collection and make sure you have at least a fat quarter of that color you don't like. Often a tiny bit of the "other" color is just the thing to really let the rest of the project sparkle. Next time you are stuck for why the project is ho hum, pull out that fat quarter and try it out. As Roberta Horton put it, "If you don't own it, you can't learn to use it."

Till next time!! - happy stitching
