The value of coloring!

Now that school is out, there are lots of parents who will be looking for things for the kids to do. The range of easily available coloring tools and sophisticated coloring books can provide hours of entertainment for kids of any age. The therapeutic value of this activity should not be overlooked for anyone. It engages both the left and right hemispheres of the brain and provides a simple outlet for self expression. Fine motor skills are improved and the gratification is very immediate. Don't underestimate the value of a new coloring book and box of crayons.

If this all sounds great but you are craving something more adult, come in and get some Tsukineko inks and Fantastixs. These all purpose craft inks are good on paper, wood, and fabric. They don't change the hand of the fabric and are easy to heat set with an iron. The fantasitxs are special applicators that make applying this ink as simple as coloring. (in fact you might even find some coloring book designs to inspire you!) These wonderful inks can even be used to marble on fabric using shaving cream. The special is ten percent off Tsukineko inks and accessories. The Village Fabric Shoppe has a full line - more than 50 colors - of the inks including some very shiny metallics. There are so many ways to use these colors that you will find yourself craving them..

Art Camp for Grownups continues this week, and Crazy Quilt Club meets on Saturday. See you soon.
