I hope you all enjoyed this weekend. Apple Blossom Festival got good weather and the quilt for Sean Murphy is coming along nicely. You have until May 15th to get us blocks, if you haven't already. We are collecting six inch finished nine patch blocks. To get this finished measurement, cut nine squares at 2 1/2 inches. I have free project sheets and templates if you need assistance. Our turnout so far is exciting.
I was crossing the Rhinebeck Bridge yesterday and soaring above the Hudson was a Bald Eagle. It was inspiring, the now endangered bird made me remember that we should always be appreciative and respectful to our earth, country and natural resources. Even with all the troubles in this country right now, It is still one of the best places in the world to live (at least in my opinion) and especially here in the Hudson Valley. I urge you to take a moment once in a while to appreciate the beauty in the world. It will enrich your day, perhaps inspire you and definitely lower your stress levels. Another thing that is very good for you is the creative activity of quilt making. The tactile nature of this art form invites all the senses to get involved and as a both practical and aesthetic finished product, it satisfies a great need in our technological and machine driven world.
In keeping witht the idea of inspiration, this Saturday the special is a bit different. One of you will choose the fabric to go on sale. The first fabric I sell on Saturday will be the featured fabric. That first sale gets 25% off on that fabric. Thereafter, anyone else who purchases some of it will get 10% off. If it sells out, the next fabric I cut will take its place at 10% off. This should prove to be fun, since you can control the sale. If you have had your eye on something, get here early and you could just be the one to choose, otheriwse you can come in later and get ispired by someone elses choice.
Several scheduling announcements need to be made as well. The Scalloped binding class is being postponed. We will re schedule it towards the end of June, after the Magic Vine workshop. Also if you have signed up for the Crazy Shortcut Quilts workshop please call us. This class may also need to be postponed. We cannot call you due to a glitch. Please give us a ring at (845) 758-8541. The Magic Vine Workshop is ready to begin, on the 19th, at 10 am. Please be sure you have all your materials. Also, tonight is the Art Quilt Forum. We will be working with curves. Please bring your current project and if you need help with the technique, your sewing things so we can work out any technical troubles.
