Winter is back!!

I hope you enjoyed our mini spring last week. The Red Hook school district has closed schools today, so the Yo Yo Bear workshop is postponed. It will run on next Monday, Jan. 21, from 10-12:30. Unless weather again interferes, the second half will run as scheduled. This has proven to be such a popular project that we will be doing a bunny adaptation on the new schedule.

For the record, if the Red Hook Schools are closed, the workshop will be postponed. When in doubt, check this blog, for if the weather is really bad, I may not get to the shoppe in time to change the phone message, but I always have the Internet. This is also the reason that we always try to include the instructors contact information on the materials sheet if the class runs outside normal business hours. Generally if we need to reschedule we try to keep the day and time the same for the following week, or as close to that as our instructors can manage.

This week, the special is on our Red and White, and Black and White collections. These classic color combination make bold and graphic quilts no matter how simple or complex your pattern, From Yellow Brick road, to the most complex Feathered Star you can't go wrong with 20% off.

The shoppe has been re organized, and if you haven't been in, the new seating in the classroom is a nice improvement. Our new schedule is coming along, and we are looking to have open house on Feb. 9. We have bed quilts, wall quilts, applique, piecing, hand quilting, and even embroidery. If you know someone who wants to learn to quilt, we are running the Heart and Nine Patch workshop too. This is the classic beginner piece, introducing the quilter to many important concepts and techniques so that the process is understood, executed safely, enjoyed, and the results are something to be proud of. This piece is exactly what many non-quilters think of when you say "quilt" and it's a great place to get started from scratch, or to renew skills that have gotten rusty. Watch this space for dates. Weather permitting, We will see you all soon.
