Winter is here!!

Well it feels like winter is here. We have lots of great projects that are perfect for a surprise snow day. This Saturday's special is on select patterns and Spirit Pin Kits. They are normally priced from $7.00 up to 9.99, and are only $6.00 this Saturday. These quick one day or less projects are perfect for gift giving or a quick project as an activity for you to do with your child on a snow day. The patterns include the Runaround Bag, the Chinese Takeout box, Table Graces placemats, and several tablerunners. None of these take much fabric and you will probably have enough in your stash to do several of these fun projects.

We have Blockbusters next Tuesday, 7 pm. Please bring a work in Progress for discussion and some materials for coloring on paper, colored pencils or markers or crayons. We will be consciously using color to express ideas and discuss the merits of different types of borders on art quilts.

The Crazy Quilt Club will have it's holiday get together on the 15th. After stitching (I have copies of the foundation pattern if you need it) they will be having lunch. Put this date on your calendar and don't miss this one!.

The new block of the month for 2008 is set to begin on Saturday, January 5. It is based on the book, Facts and Fabrications, by Barbara Brackman. We will be doing the blocks thru August and then work on the applique medallion and unusual setting for the fall, and end with a basting party in December. Please call to sign up and let us know if you prefer civil war era reproduction colors or indigo and copper toned batiks. I will put up a photo as soon as I get the last border on the sample.

Lastly I want to let you know that the fabrics from fall market have begun arriving, a new batch of batiks is due in today, come check it out!! Also for you to check out is a great method I found on the internet for an edging on small quilts. Go to http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com for this great tiny edging all stepped out in very good photos. I have a journal quilt that I will use it on. Happy Stitching.
