Tis the season- for ribbons and bows

Congratulations to all who are wrapping their gifts, personally I haven't finished either shopping or sewing for the holiday. To help you all out, all ribbons by the yard are the special for Saturday Dec 15th, at 10% off. Maybe I'll be ready to wrap by Saturday. (If you need to ship and need boxes or packing filler materials please ask, I'd rather have them re used than sent to the recycling center) Anyway, there are lots of new things for you to add to the wishlist, so your loved ones can get you just what you want. There are about a dozen new fabrics for you to enjoy. We now have sewing machine bobbins for featherweights, and the green Viking bobbins. Since Red Hook no longer has a sewing machine shop, I want to save you a trip and a toll. If there is a brand or type you would like me to carry please let me know and I will try to oblige. The newest gadget, the Gipsy griper is here. It is a suction cupped handle for your rotary rulers that protects your fingers from the rotary blade and eases the tension on the hand holding the ruler. If you have arthritis or carpal tunnel, this is a great tool. I have been using one here and love it.

The cute little guy above is the yo yo bear with a felted head, hands and feet. Diane Johnson will run this workshop on January 14 & 28, 6:30-9. You don't want to miss this. Yo Yo's are everywhere and felting is hot, learn all about both while making this irresistible small bear.

This is the indigo and copper colorway for the block of the month we will be starting on January 5, at 9 am. (and every first Saturday after that) It is based on the Star sampler from the book Facts and Fabrications, by Barbara Brackman. The other color choice is in civil war reproductions. In the months January through August we will cover all twenty of the blocks in the book, and you may finish it out at that point with a simple setting. If you wish to continue, we will work some hand applique for the center of the medallion, use this wonderful star setting, and finish with a basting party in December. For more information please contact Diana at the Shoppe.
Lastly, but not least, I want to make you aware that I am taking donations in several forms for the American Cancer Society. Our collection of back issue quilt magazines is getting large. You may come in and for a donation of your choice you may take home inspiration on glossy pages in this form. If you also have lots of back issues you may bring them in and leave them for others or, thirdly, you may simply add to the can even if you have don't want any magazines. We all have been affected by cancer in some way, and every little bit helps in the search for a cure. I will have the can till the end of January, or until we run out of magazines. Come in and help out all those who only want a cure for Christmas. -Piece!!!
