July Events

I hope that you are all having a great holiday weekend. With the sunny and hot weather it definitely feels like summer out there. The Shoppe is fully air conditioned for those of you who need a cool place to sew. This month there are lots of cool classes, I posted the months full schedule below. A quick reminder that we will be closing early on Saturday the tenth at 3:30 due to my husbands art opening that evening in Manhattan. In honor of this Art event, all the sketchbooks and canvas books are 20% off. Keeping a journal is one of the best ways to keep creativity alive in your day to day life. Whether your art form is in fabric or on panels it is a great way to keep your thoughts and ideas from disappearing into the ether. I will be posting on my art blog in the next few days about a sketchbook project I am involved in too. If you haven't checked that out before then here is the address. DianaArtQuilts.blogspot.com Come on in to get set up with materials and anything else you will need to get ready for a workshop, finish something for your Dutchess County Fair entry, or start a new sketchbook.

A Tisket, A Tasket Appliqué Workshops
We’ve been having so much fun creating the wonderful basket blocks and learning new forms of appliqué. Feel free to join the fun at any time – you don’t have to have taken the previous classes!” In the next three sessions, we’ll explore different hand appliqué techniques. (If you haven’t already downloaded the patterns, contact Diana at the shop.) These blocks are loaded with charm and are small enough that they make a great take-along project and can be easily completed in time for the next month. July 24th, we’ll work on block 8 using heat resistant Mylar to prepare our shapes and then work on perfecting nice, invisible stitches – not as hard as you think with tips from Diane!
