Tuesday is going to be a busy and fun day at the Shoppe. Art Club in the morning,, and the first half of Mystery Dessert in the afternoon. Then over the rest of the week I will be finalizing our next schedule. From an applique sampler with Diane Johnson, to a row of Spring Houses with Nancy, more Scrap Therapy and some paintstik stencilling with me, and Free Motion with Kathy Velis Turan. Registration week will be February 9-13, put it on your calendar.
I'd like to take a moment to tell you about Kathy. She is a practicing artist who uses quilting and applique and surface design as her medium. She has shown her works locally at the Tivoli Artist Co op, where I came to know her, in national shows and even internationally. She had work in the prestigious Quilts=Art=Quilts exhibit that just closed yesterday. You may see her work at her website, www.graphicfiber.com Many of you have seen her "Rita Hayworth" that hangs currently at the shoppe. Kathy's free motion workshop will be on Saturday February 20, 10-4. Yes you can, and she will show you how. You may call the shoppe to register, or better yet do it in person. Free motion work will open great possibilities for your work.
Lastly, this weekend's special on Best Press starch alternative. I have been using it for a bit now and although I dislike spray starch, this non-starch works wonders. I currently stock the unscented, but if you all find it as helpful as I have we may expand to some of the scented versions. If you are doing precise piecing, preparing applique, or using scraps you will find it helpful. The spray bottle makes a nice fine mist for light applications, and even coverage if you need a stronger dose. It is 20% off, so you can try it out, I know you will really love it. See you soon.
