Time to Trim the Tree

It is now December, and once again, the traffic in front of Battenfields Tree Farm has started backing up. It is time to trim the tree at the Village Fabric Shoppe. This Saturday, starting at 10 am, we will have our first ever Tree Trimming Party. If you come in and donate a hand made ornament to the tree, you may have a stocking stuffer coupon in exchange, so you can treat yourself to something you really want. We will have cider, egg nog, and if my oven cooperates, maybe some holiday cookies. In keeping with the holiday spirit, and the now short time left to make gifts, the Thimbleberries pre printed runner by the panel, and the kits including the same will be 30% off this Friday and Saturday. These two designs are easy to put together and would be great on any one's table - even your own. They are also a wonderful place to practice your machine or hand quilting skills.

I thought you would also like some inspiration, so that even if you can't find the time to quilt over this "crazy" season, (as my husband calls it) you can keep the creative parts of your brain satisfied. This is the online journal quilt exhibit for 2009. Each participant submitted three of the monthly small quilts. I know that some of you tried to keep up with making a journal quilt once a month with our Art Club, and now know the dedication it takes to be successful. Check these out and do spend the time to read the statements that go along, it is enlightening in some cases. here is the link http://www.quiltart.com/triple_play/

Lastly, a book shipment from C & T came in, so if you are waiting for a copy of William Morris in Applique, or One Line at a Time, they are here. Get those ornaments ready - see you soon.
