It is a dreary Halloween afternoon as I write this. The trick or treaters from the morning's town sponsored session have all gone home. The parade was bigger than last year and alot of fun but now it's raining just enough to keep even the most sweet toothed kids in the house. I wonder how many will come to the door tonight at home. We have lots of candy ready, but the weather and the large numbers of kids out sick from school could make it a slow year. That is why I always get candy that I like too, then the leftovers are much more fun. Anyway, as we all recover from the sugar high I hope to see all of you this week. There is something for everyone.
First, Tuesday is Hand stitchers, we will continue with Sashiko stitching. Thursday is a cutting session for Scrap Therapy, please call ahead so I can be sure to have enough bins for everyone. The lovely dimensional poinsettia is on Friday at one, And last, but never least is the Block of the Month Meeting on Saturday. The special for the weekend is on fabrics that were used in our Block of the month this year. Block kits through December are now available and if you want extra coordinating fabrics to make pillow cases or other accessories that match the quilt now would be the time to purchase fabrics. They are 20% off on Friday and Saturday.
The background fabrics for next year's William Morris BOM have arrived too, when you register, you may take 40% off the needed amounts for the project. The suggested fabric is an extra wide that is part of the basics line, and will always be available, but if you choose something else ( any you may certainly do so ) it is highly suggested that you get all that you will need because there is no guarantee that it will be there if you need more. Also arrived are the Star Singles and other Scrap Therapy items that sold out when Joan Ford visited.
I also have two somewhat related websites to tell you about. The first is http://www.zentangle.com/ A Zen - tangle, is a random pattern or texture created as you doodle along. These little bits are very interesting and just looking around this website gave me lots of ideas for quilting and patchwork projects. The founders have done a wonderful job of making this easy, and fun. I have known for a long time that doodling is good for you, but they have taken it to another level.
The other website is the quilted equivalent of the zentangle. It is actually the blog of a woman who decided to try to come up with a different filler design for machine quilting every day for a whole year. Some of these are wonderful. She has video tutorials that are very good on most of them. Definitely worth checking out if you want to try free motion quilting. Here is the link www.freemotionquilting.blogspot.com Our One Line workshop, Waves, Pebbles and Puzzles is coming up later this month so this website might whet your appetite. This is really fun when you get going. See you soon.
