Back to Classes!!

Now that the kids are all back to school, life can get back to a regular schedule. I hope this means that more of you can sign up for classes too. Learning a new technique is good for you. Study after study has confirmed it. Doing something creative and tactile like Quilting has innumerable stress reducing properties -- and it's fun!! Everyone should find something they like on the new schedule, we are just finalizing dates and finishing samples. Registration week will include 20% off supplies with a paid registration, and it will take place Sept 29- October 3. As you browse the shoppe, notice the Class Example Labels to see what wonderful things some of you have made in our workshops.

For those of you who may be more industrious, I have two sewing opportunities to pass on, first, The Cocoon Theater in Rhinebeck is looking for help with costumes for the Hardscrabble Day Parade. If you can help contact Andres, at andressanmillan@yahoo.com The second is a commission piece for a woman who would like to have a quilt made from her fathers ties. If this sounds like a good project for you, contact me and I will arrange a meeting.

For you contemporary quilters out there, at this address http://www.sweeteasyfeeling.blogspot.com is the prospectus for a very good show. It is subtitled Significant Stitches and asks the question, what is it that makes your stitching significant? It is a fascinating question, and the answer will probably be different for each quilter. Reflecting on this can help you to recognize themes and ideas that show up repeatedly in your works. It can be a surprise too. As we grow as quilters, knowing more and more about how we really feel about colors, techniques, and themes, as well as various styles of quilting, can help us plan projects that are both enjoyable to do and things we love as finished articles. Please feel free to leave comments on this subject.

This week we start the Seasonal Houses quilt, remember it will begin at 4 pm!!! One Line at a Time is this Wednesday, and Crazy Quilt Club will meet on the 19th, a week early. The special is 30% off JHB Carded buttons. See you all soon.
