So Far So Good

So far, so good, making progress on my goals. I have nearly finished my first journal quilt of 2009. I just need to decide how to finish the edges. A normal binding is not what this piece is wanting. There are plenty of options for the edging of a quilt, especially if it is a decorative rather than bedding quilt. If you are using it on a bed the standard double fold french binding is still the best option, but when the quilt is primarily an aesthetic object then you have many options. I may just zig zag or satin stitch the edges for now, or perhaps a faced binding so it doesn't show from the front. As you complete your projects, don't forget that you can still have design options even in the edge finish. Creativity doesn't have to end at the edge of your quilt.

Tuesday is Blockbusters Art Quilt Group has its first day meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday is the rescheduled Presentation for the EGA, and Thursday is Egg Money Quilts. Of course, this is all pending decent weather. As a reminder, if Red Hook Central Schools are closed or delayed we will postpone a day class. While we are talking about dates, please mark down in your calendars that Registration week for the new schedule is the first week of February, 2-7. We are doing this in lieu of Open House. During this week you may take 15% off all supplies for classes with a paid registration.

You will also want to know that the special for this weekend ( now Friday and Saturday ) is flannels and homespuns at 40% off. See you soon.
