Recovering from the ice storm

I hope that you all have survived the ice storm and have full power restored to your homes. I know of one local family that will be taking years to recover. Unfortunately, I received the following information from my daughters brownie troop regarding a family in another troop who lost their home and even the family dog in a fire that was a direct result of the ice storm. I have removed their names to protect their privacy.


DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY,
AS MOST OF YOU KNOW I AM A GIRL SCOUT LEADER. I COULD NOT DO THIS JOB ALONE. MY CO-LEADER's HOUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE THURSDAY NIGHT. THEY LOST THE SECOND FLOOR COMPLETELY. THE FIRST FLOOR HAS EXTENSIVE WATER DAMAGE. SHE HAS 5 CHILDREN. THEY HAVE LOST EVERYTHING, EVEN THE X-MAS PRESENT AND THE FAMILY DOG. I KNOW THE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE CAME WHEN THEY ALL MADE IT OUT ALIVE, BUT PLEASE HELP.

2 YEAR OLD GIRL -2 T
8 MONTH OLD BOY 9-12 MONTH
ANYTHING WILL HELP BEDDING BLANKETS,
EVEN PASSING THIS FORWARD WOULD BE GREAT .

I know that the holidays are a busy time and with the current economy things are tight, but when you think of what this poor family is going through please find it in your heart to do something. They have nothing. You may drop off items at the shoppe. I will see that they get to them through the girl scouts. My daughters troop is donating a baby quilt, they had just happened to be working on. Many of the girls had never sat at a sewing machine before. It is sad that the need is so urgent, but they are doing a wonderful job. If these third graders can do it, I am sure that we adults can find some way to help.

On a lighter note, This Saturday, all books are 25% off. There are some great recent releases, classics, art quilt books, quilt history books, and lots to keep you happy!! Creativity central is taking the week off, and the shoppe will be closed the 24th - 26th for Christmas. Be thankful for all the blessing in your life - you never know how long you will have them.
