This Saturday is OPEN HOUSE. This means that we have the new schedule on hand in hard copy, samples of the projects and sales on lots of great stuff. First, all non clearance books, calendars and DVD's are 15% off. The print and color wall fabrics are 40% off, as are all Christmas prints. That includes the new pre printed Table Runner panels by Thimbleberries!! We here at The Village Fabric Shoppe know that this season especially, we need to make our fabric budgets stretch like a raw bias edge.
At open house, you will be treated to the first look at the Block of the Month for 2009, it is by Thangles and is a Buck a Block program. If finances are keeping you from larger projects you can still keep your quilting muscles flexed at only one dollar per month!! ( as long as you keep up with the simple blocks ).
We are also getting started with the Scrap Therapy Program. The quilting tradition in this country was built on women using every bit of their precious fabric. Scrap Therapy is a light hearted two part program that is designed to help you use up all those little bits, just like our fore-mothers. First you take a cutting workshop and get your scraps organized, neat and ready to use, then you take a project workshop to use them. Our first cutting session is in October. This is so much cheaper than psychotherapy, more fun, and you get to play with lots of favorite fabrics. When you sign up you get a free Scrap Therapy button, and when you take the cutting workshop, you come in with a bag of scraps, when you leave you will have a collection of wonderful fabrics ready to sew into a quilt, they will be organized and easy to use since they will be in the FREE Scrap Therapy Organizer Bin. Once you have been to a cutting session - or two -you will know how to keep your scraps neat and organized so you can whip up wonderful quilts quicker than you would think. There are two new exclusive Scrap Therapy patterns each quarter, plus Cut for The Cure notions and cutting tools to make it all even easier. I can't wait till you all get in on this, we will have so much fun!! (and use all those bits of fabric that we just can't throw away )
In addition, at Open House Only, get a free pattern for the "Town Square" Lap/Wall size quilt when you purchase any pre bundled fat quarters. The pattern takes seven fat quarters, and goes together with almost no waste. With simple cutting and sewing, this makes a good project to do with a new quilter. Other beginner kits , Just 4 Fun, Basic, and Super Basic, are all 15% off. If you are not up to teaching your beginner yourself, why not take one of our beginner level courses together? We have several on the new schedule, and even an experienced quilter can pick up great tricks, and certainly have fun in a quilting class.
Also coming up is Blockbusters Art quilt Forum on the 14th, we will be playing with marbling using the all purpose Craft Inks by Tsukineko. Bring at least two colors of ink, fabrics to marble on, a flat tray that your fabric fits in laying flat, and a plastic bag to carry it home in since it may not be dry in time. I will have all other materials needed.
For Creativity Central, I want you to spend some time with your fabric collection. Take stock, fill a bag or two with scraps ( for Scrap Therapy) and look at what colors you have alot of, take special notice of fabrics that you have quantities of. Now that you know what you have, come to open house and you are armed an ready to get a nice warm quilt going.
