This Saturday (Sept 20) is Hardscrabble Day here in Red Hook. It is a town wide festival with live music, vendors and lots of special events. We will have ongoing demonstrations of the Tsukineko All Purpose Inks, and rock bottom clearance prices on some super fabrics. Some as low as $1.99 a yard. There will be a few other specials too, Don't miss this!!
This week, the string pieced jacket begins. If you are interested, call and let us know, if we get enough we can add yet another session. We also have the Dresden Plate Block this Thursday- scroll down to last weeks post for more info and a picture. Mark your calendars too for the Open House to kick off the new schedule for Oct.- Jan. It is on October 11.
For Creativity Central, a quote from Bill Vaughn. " A three year old child is a being who gets almost as much fun out of a fifty six dollar set of swings, as it does out of finding a small green worm." Your simple task this week is to spend five minutes really looking at a small but fascinating thing. If it can fit in your pocket carry it with you for more contemplation in those odd moments of akward waiting time. If you have the technology to snap a closeup photo or a journal to sketch it in so much better, but do notice the way it works, how its parts fit, how the color changes, and what texture it is. Nature is happy to provide plenty of "little Green Worms" and the like, but there are plenty of man made objects that are well worth noticing. I have a few of my favorite little fascinating things at the shoppe this week too. Have a great week.
