Despite the nasty weather, open house was quilte sucessful. Copies of the new schedule are now available at the shoppe, and the full schedule is on the website. I am very excited. There are so many great offerings that I am sure there is something for everyone. Because of the bad weather, I am continuing two of the sales from openhouse through this Saturday, First, the clearance section, and the one yard cuts will remain at three dollars per yard, and the books on the spinner rack in our classroom are all 20% off. I want to also let you know that the back issue magazines have been added to by our own Diane Johnson, If you are interested please come in when you have time to browse, and leave your donation for the American Cancer Society in the bucket.
I want to remind you that we have the Heart and Nine Patch workshopp coming soon. It is designed to work for anyone who wants to learn to quilt, even if they have never sat behind a sewing machine. Pick up an inexpensive machine, or even borrow one, and we will set you up for the rest. There is very little homework in this course, and if you or a friend are interested, you should come in and we will set you up with everything you will need (and give you a discount with paid registration)
The beginner rate discount also applies to the hand quilting sessions. Learning this the right way is important to reduce hand strain, improve stitches and make the entire experience enjoyabloe and relaxing. If you want to try the classic method for holding the layers together and creating beauty then join us. The pillow project is a great place to start, and we will work the entire process from markeing and basting to finishing the piece into a useable item. More information on both of these workshops and the full schedule is onthe website, or at the shoppe.
One last thing to mention, is that if Red Hook Schols close early we will postpone the Blockbusters meeting until next Tuesday the 19th. Otherwise we will have the meeting as scheduled. We will be working on the fused pear exercise form the Art Quilt Workbook. As the day progressess I will watchc the weather and if we are indeed going to postpone, the I will leave a message on the answering machine call (845) 758-8541. See you all soon!
