Celebrating with Fat Quarter Tuesday!

I put bindings on two pieces this week. Finishing feels great, even if the pieces are small. When you get it up on the wall for the first time there is a lovely feeling of accomplishment. It makes me want to Celebrate!! With Fat Quarter Tuesday this week I have a great excuse!! Of course a really good quilt will talk to you and hopefully suggest the next one to work on, but it feels good all the same. One of the pieces was a class sample from the Art Quilt Group, the Pear Quilt is now finished and for sale.

The second piece I got a binding on is my January Journal. I had the body of the quilt done for some time, but only just found the correct binding fabric. I pieced the background from "Scrap Therapy" pieces and did free machine quilting for the image, then used Oil Pastels to add the color. I have been playing with the motif for a while, - I won't tell you what it actually is, as I really like the ambiguity of it. Could be many things, your clues to it's identity is in the colors. If you want more information on the journal quilt project, our Art Quilt Group, or painting on quilts, come visit.

You will want to come in on Tuesday anyway. This Tuesday is Fat Tuesday, the usual finish for Mardis Gras. It is known in this shoppe as Fat QUARTER Tuesday. To celebrate, if you wear your beads to the shoppe ( we aren't fussy, any beads will do ) you may purchase as many pre cut fat quarters as you like for one dollar each. We know you love them, we know you can't get enough of them. They are great for lots of projects, even to build up colors you may be missing in your Scrap Therapy Stash. There are so many wonderful patterns and even books out there with yardages and cutting directions designed especially for Fat Quarters that it won't be hard for you to find a great way to use all the goodies you pick up on Tuesday. I also have some of those wonderful books on Scrap and Fat Quarter Quilts at great discounts!!

This week we also have the Fork Knife and Spoon Place mats workshop on Tuesday, Scrap Therapy Cutting workshop on Friday morning, and the re scheduled Hand Quilting on Friday Afternoon, 1:30-4:30. There is room in all these workshops. In addition, Saturday is Crazy Quilt Club. Please refer to the website for the early March events, Including Quilt as you Go. There is some preparatory work to be done for the Quilt as You Go workshop, so if you are planning to attend please let us know and we can fill you in on what you need to have done. We have planned this workshop so that those of you doing the Thangles Block of the month could do your own quilting and have it completely done in December without having to send it out, but you don't have to be doing the block of the month to take the quilting workshop. You can use the quilt as you go technique for hand pieced blocks too, so it gives you many options. It is a technique that any avid quilter should have some experience with.

The Special this weekend is on the Miniature Doll and Her Quilt Pattern. It comes with a cardboard pre cut bed for you to fold together, and normally sells for $8.00. It is yours Friday and Saturday for only $5.00. While Supplies last. A quick and fun project that uses scraps and bits you probably already have on hand. Perfect to make for your favorite girl. See you soon.
