Keep a project in your bag!

Well friends, I hope you all weathered this weekends storms well. I got marooned at my Mom's house on Long Island for an unexpected overnight. My daughter and I didn't have toothbrushes with us, but I did have some stitching in my purse. I was quite content to stitch away while the family watched a dvd I was not interested in. I rarely go any where without a project. One project that is great for keeping with you is lace making. The pieces are usually small, you need only one color of thread, and a small pair of scissors. I have an eyeglass case that contains everything I need when travelling with this craft. It is simple to work too. The butterfly workshop is on Wednesday, July 30, from 10-1. Bring your supply list and the materials on it and we will have some fun with this ancient technique and get some thoroughly modern results.

On Saturday, the Block of the Month will meet to go over our last block of the 20 in the book. I will also run over the sashing and cornerstones setting that you can use with either 12 blocks for a twin size or all 20 for a queen size. The Saturday special is 15 % off the reproductions we have used in these blocks so that you may begin to set quilts with all these blocks. Next month we will begin the applique medallion for the spectacular star setting. Please let me know if you will be continuing on to create the star.

Lastly, but not ever least, The Handstitchers club will be marking and basting for handquilting. Many will be using the embroidered Mini Quilt we have been working on, but you don't need to. Any project you wish to hand quilt works fine. If you have never done hand quilting please chose a small one, like a pillow. You will need your project, fabric marker that shows, batting (I like a thin Poly or blend for hand quilting), backing, hand quilting thread, quilting needles, small scissors, sewing thread for basting, Hoop and thimble. That will be August 2nd, and you need not have joined the club before to attend.

As usual, if you need more info, call stop by or check the website. Keep on stitching!!
